Industrial Calibration
Isotech Fast-Cal

The Isotech Fast‑Cal series was created in an unusual way. In 2004, twenty experienced calibration and maintenance engineers from around the world were asked to describe their ideal industrial temperature calibrator. Their priorities were remarkably consistent: the instrument had to be rugged, lightweight, fast, easy to use on site, stable, affordable, and capable of testing multiple sensors with minimal effort.

The Fast‑Cal range is the direct result of that exercise. All three models share the same compact stainless‑steel enclosure, the same intuitive operation and the same modern functionality. The only difference lies in their temperature ranges and thermal performance, allowing the series to cover almost every industrial calibration requirement — from sub‑zero work to high‑temperature thermocouples at 650 °C.

Three temperature ranges, one design philosophy

Fast‑Cal Low

The Low model spans –35 °C to +140 °C, making it ideal for applications around ambient temperature and below. Its rapid heating and cooling behaviour makes it particularly suitable for HVAC work, pharmaceutical processes, food production and general process calibration. The stability is excellent, the accuracy is reliable and the response time is fast enough for daily field use.

Fast‑Cal Medium

The Medium model covers 30 °C to 350 °C and is the most widely used version in industrial environments. Its broad range, short warm‑up time and dependable stability make it suitable for virtually all contact thermometers, thermocouples and PRTs used in production, maintenance and quality assurance.

Fast‑Cal High

For elevated temperatures, the High model extends the range to 35 °C up to 650 °C. Despite the demanding conditions, it maintains impressive stability and reaches high temperatures surprisingly quickly. This version is frequently used in petrochemical plants, power generation, heat‑treatment processes, metalworking and other applications where high‑temperature thermocouples are standard.

Two operating modes: Basic and Complete

The Fast‑Cal series is available in two configurations, each supporting a different calibration approach.

The Basic model compares the unit under test directly with the block temperature. It is ideal for quick checks, routine verifications and situations where traceability is not essential.

The Complete model transforms the Fast‑Cal into a fully traceable ISO 9000 calibration system. It includes a semi‑standard PRT, an integrated indicator for reference measurements and support for 4–20 mA transmitters. Combined with the supplied software, it enables ramps, dwells and automatic thermostat trip detection. This configuration meets the requirements of traceable calibration and audit‑ready documentation.

Thermal performance in practice

Despite their compact size, all Fast‑Cal models deliver impressive thermal performance. Stability ranges from 0.02 °C at the lower end to 0.05 °C at the highest temperatures. Accuracy depends on the configuration: the Basic model provides excellent results for routine work, while the Complete model — paired with a semi‑standard PRT — achieves the precision required for ISO‑compliant calibration.

Speed is one of the defining strengths of the Fast‑Cal family. The Low model heats from –30 to +140 °C in just 15 minutes, the Medium model reaches 350 °C in the same time, and the High model climbs from 50 to 650 °C in around 20 minutes. Cooling is equally efficient, allowing the calibrator to remain productive throughout a busy working day.

Design, usability and field performance

All Fast‑Cal units are built in a stainless‑steel enclosure that is durable, hygienic and resistant to wear. With a weight below 6.6 kg, each model is easy to carry and effortless to deploy on site. The interface is clean and straightforward, free from membrane keypads, and the software enables automated ramps and dwells when required. The calibration well is identical across all models: 25 mm in diameter and 148 mm deep. This consistency allows inserts to be shared across the entire range. Standard, blank and custom‑drilled inserts are available, ensuring compatibility with virtually any sensor configuration.

The Isotech Fast‑Cal series offers a rare combination of robustness, speed, portability and accuracy. By combining three temperature ranges with two operating modes, the range provides a flexible platform that adapts effortlessly to almost any industrial calibration task. Whether the requirement is a quick on‑site check, a fully traceable ISO 9000 calibration or intensive daily use, Fast‑Cal is designed to deliver reliable, efficient and repeatable performance.
