The Isotech Medusa R is a versatile blackbody source designed for calibrating infrared thermometers across the temperature range 30 °C to 550 °C. With its deep cavity, high emissivity and excellent temperature uniformity, the Medusa R provides a stable and repeatable radiation field suitable for both industrial and laboratory applications.
High emissivity and deep cavity
The Medusa R features a 45 mm diameter, 285 mm deep cavity engineered to produce a uniform radiating surface. With an emissivity of >0.995, the source behaves as an almost ideal blackbody, enabling low‑uncertainty calibration of IR instruments.
Compatible with large ITS‑90 fixed‑point cells
For the lowest uncertainties, the Medusa R can be used with Isotech ITS‑90 fixed‑point cells, including:
- > Indium (156.5985 °C)
- > Tin (231.928 °C)
- > Zinc (419.527 °C)
These large primary cells fit directly into the deep cavity and are supplied with metal‑purity certificates, making the Medusa R suitable for traceable high‑accuracy IR calibration.
