The Isotech Oberon R is a high‑temperature blackbody source designed for the realization and maintenance of ITS‑90 blackbody fixed points. Covering a range from 450 °C to 1100 °C and offering an emissivity of >0.995, the Oberon R provides an exceptionally stable and uniform radiation field for calibrating infrared thermometers, thermal imagers and radiometric sensors.
Sodium heatpipe for exceptional isothermy
At the core of the Oberon R is a sodium heatpipe, engineered to deliver extremely low thermal gradients along the furnace core. Once the heatpipe reaches conduction temperature, the inner wall becomes highly uniform, creating ideal conditions for blackbody radiation. The design prevents thermal expansion stresses between the inner and outer walls, and the working fluid is permanently sealed within a plasma‑arc welded enclosure for long‑term reliability.
Designed for high‑temperature fixed points
The Oberon R is ideal for realizing:

Beyond fixed‑point realization, the Oberon R functions as a variable blackbody source across its full temperature range. The 50 mm diameter, 300 mm deep cavity provides a long, uniform radiating column suitable for demanding optical setups.
