Primary Laboratory
Isotech Oberon for Slim Cells

The Isotech 426 Oberon is a compact, high‑performance heatpipe furnace designed specifically for the realization and maintenance of slim ITS‑90 fixed‑point cells for aluminium, silver, gold and copper. Its exceptionally isothermal heatpipe core provides the ideal environment for both fixed‑point realization and high‑temperature comparison calibration.

Isothermal heatpipe technology

At the centre of the Oberon is a stress‑free isothermal heatpipe engineered to deliver extremely low thermal gradients along the working length. The inner wall is thermally isolated from the outer wall until the heatpipe reaches conduction temperature, preventing mechanical stress.

The working fluid is permanently sealed within a plasma‑arc welded enclosure, ensuring long‑term reliability and zero maintenance.

Designed for aluminium, silver, gold and copper fixed‑point cells

The Oberon is optimized for slim fixed‑point cells, including:

> Aluminium (660.323 °C)
> Silver (961.78 °C)
> Gold (1064.18 °C)
> Copper (1084.62 °C)

It can also be used with blackbody fixed‑point cells, making it suitable for high‑temperature infrared calibration.

Fully programmable temperature control

The upgraded Oberon features a bright full‑colour display and a fully programmable controller. Users can create temperature programs to:

  • > bring the furnace to melt or freeze temperatures at a chosen time
  • > automate fixed‑point realization
  • > lower the furnace temperature after a defined period

Dynamic PID optimisation ensures excellent stability across the entire temperature range.

Modern connectivity

With Ethernet and USB‑host interfaces, the Oberon supports:

  • > remote temperature monitoring
  • > program transfer
  • > export of heat‑up and cool‑down history

This makes the furnace suitable for both standalone and integrated laboratory environments.

Calibration volume and performance

The Oberon offers a generous 50 mm × 300 mm cavity, ideal for slim cells and long sensors. It achieves a stability of ±0.05 °C, remarkable for a furnace operating up to 1100 °C. The typical heat‑up time is around 4 hours, consistent with the thermal mass required for fixed‑point stability.

Accessories and fixed‑point cells

Available accessories include:

  • > Adjustable Equalising Block (6 × 8 mm × 160 mm)
  • > Inconel cell basket for safe cell placement
  • > Quartz‑clad slim cells for aluminium, silver and copper

A 230/110 V transformer is available for international use.

The Isotech 426 Oberon is a compact yet exceptionally capable heatpipe furnace for high‑temperature ITS‑90 fixed‑point realization. With its isothermal heatpipe core, programmable controller and excellent stability, the Oberon is an outstanding choice for laboratories requiring precision and reliability up to 1100 °C.
