The Meatest 9020 Multifunction Calibrator is designed as a universal calibration platform for electrical laboratories that need to support a wide range of measurement instruments. The unit combines high accuracy, extensive functional coverage, and a robust source architecture, making it suitable for calibrating digital multimeters, high‑burden analog meters, clamp meters, ohmmeters, energy meters, power analyzers, transducers, oscilloscopes, process meters, and insulation testers.
The 9020 provides AC and DC voltages up to 1050 V, AC and DC currents up to 30 A, and supports power and energy calibration, resistance and capacitance, frequency, thermocouples, and RTD sensors. Its basic uncertainty of 9 ppm makes the instrument suitable for laboratories requiring high accuracy and long‑term stability. Thanks to the high load capacity of both voltage and current outputs, instruments with significant internal consumption can also be calibrated.
The instrument offers a wide range of waveforms, including harmonic and non‑harmonic signals, enabling sensitivity testing under distorted conditions. The frequency output extends to 2 MHz and supports duty‑cycle settings, while the advanced impedance source aligns with the latest workload requirements of 6½‑digit multimeters.
Architecture and Functionality
The 9020 features internal voltage ranges from 20 mV to 1050 V and supports both active and passive output modes. For AC voltages, frequencies are available up to 300 kHz, depending on the range. Distortion remains low across the entire frequency spectrum, and the source can be loaded with currents up to 50 mA in the higher voltage ranges.
For current calibration, the 9020 provides DC ranges from 0 µA to 30 A and AC ranges up to 30 A RMS. Non‑sinusoidal signals such as sawtooth, triangle, square wave, and truncated sine are available up to 1 kHz. The source supports inductive loads up to 1 H in the lowest ranges and up to 500 µH at 30 A.
Resistance and capacitance are provided through both variable and fixed standards. The variable source covers 0 Ω to 1.1 GΩ and 0.6 nF to 120 mF, with accuracies matching modern DMM specifications. Fixed standards are integrated for quick verification and offer ppm‑level performance in the lower ranges.
Thermal functions include RTD simulation for Pt, Ni, and Cu sensors, with R0 ranges from 20 Ω to 2 kΩ, and support for all common thermocouple types. Uncertainty ranges from 0.01 °C to 0.55 °C, depending on type and range.
The frequency source delivers signals from 0.1 Hz to 2 MHz with an accuracy of 5 ppm. Duty‑cycle settings are available from 0.1% to 99.9%, with amplitudes up to 28.2 Vpk.
For power and energy calibration, the 9020 supports voltages up to 1050 V, currents up to 30 A, and frequencies up to 1000 Hz. Total uncertainty is based on voltage, current, phase angle, and time period, making the instrument suitable for AC power meters, energy meters, and analyzers used in grid, aviation, and maritime applications.
Expansion Options
The 9020 can be expanded with multiple modules. The SCO/SC1 scope options provide high‑frequency sine signals up to 400 MHz and 1.1 GHz, including flatness and amplitude specifications for oscilloscope calibration. The HVR option enables high‑voltage resistance calibration up to 1.5 kV, suitable for insulation testers and megaohmmeters. The MER option adds a process multimeter for measuring voltage, current, resistance, frequency, and temperature, including 4‑wire RTD support.
Automation and Integration
The 9020 integrates seamlessly into modern calibration automation platforms via RS‑232, USB, Ethernet, and IEEE‑488. The Caliber/WinQbase software supports semi‑automatic calibration of instruments without remote interfaces through the CamOCR module, which automatically reads display values using a camera.
The instrument has a warm‑up time of 30 minutes and operates within a temperature range of +13 °C to +33 °C. Dimensions are 434 × 191 × 641 mm, and weight ranges from 24 to 25 kg, depending on installed options. The 9020 complies with IEC 61010 and EN 61326, and is powered from 115/230 V, 50/60 Hz.
The Meatest 9020 Multifunction Calibrator offers a broad and deep functional spectrum for electrical calibration, combining high accuracy, extensive source capabilities, and modern automation support. With voltage, current, power, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and temperature functions in a single platform, the 9020 provides a complete solution for calibration laboratories aiming to cover a large portion of their workload with one instrument.
