The Isotech MicroK 2 is an advanced thermometry bridge that offers unparalleled precision and reliability for temperature measurement in laboratory and industrial environments. Built on the success of the original MicroK models, the second generation is equipped with new features, including an additional input channel and an improved touchscreen, increasing versatility and usability. With ratio accuracies down to 30 ppb and equivalent temperature uncertainties starting at 7.5 µK, the microK2 ranks among the absolute best in primary and secondary temperature metrology.
Exceptional accuracy and stability
The MicroK 2 offers a resistance ratio of 0.03 ppm and an equivalent temperature measurement accuracy of only 7.5 μK at the water triple point. Thanks to a unique substitution topology, the device eliminates drift and thus the need for regular calibration or software corrections. Performance remains consistent even after long-term use, making the MicroK 2 cost-effective and minimizing maintenance.
New features and improvements
With the introduction of a fourth input channel, users can now simultaneously connect different sensors such as SPRTs, PRTs, Thermocouples, thermistors and reference resistors. This combination makes the MicroK2 unique considering that all common temperature sensors can be connected. The redesigned 10.1-inch touchscreen offers an intuitive, high-resolution interface, allowing easy adjustment of settings and clear display of data. Connectivity has been expanded to include Ethernet, USB, RS232 and IEEE 488 (GPIB), facilitating integration into modern laboratory setups.
World-class accuracy
| Model | Ratio Accuracy | Equivalent temperature (WTP) |
| microK2 ELITE | 30 ppb | 7.5 µK |
| microK2 60 | 60 ppb | 15 µK |
| microK2 150 | 150 ppb | 38 µK |
| microK2 300 | 300 ppb | 75 µK |
These performance characteristics make the microK2 suitable for both primary SPRT calibration and industrial temperature measurements with PRTs, thermistors and standard thermocouples. With a voltage accuracy of 0.15 µV, even high-quality thermocouples such as Pt/Pd and Au/Pt can be measured with very low uncertainty.
The microK2 is available in four accuracy levels, allowing laboratories to choose the one that best suits their application:
Measurement versatility
The MicroK 2 supports a wide range of sensors and measurement modes:
> Thermocouples: Very low uncertainties with a voltage accuracy of 0.15 μV.
> Cryogenic measurements: Supports measurements up to 4 K with RhFe thermometers.
> Zero-current resistance measurements: Automatic calculations reduce errors and increase accuracy.
> Keep-warm current: Prevents temperature fluctuations at connected sensors, even during prolonged operation.
Advanced technology and innovation
Thanks to parallel analog processing and a new sigma-delta ADC, the MicroK 2 minimizes voltage noise, reducing measurement uncertainty without sacrificing speed. This makes the device ideal for demanding applications, such as calibrations and measurements in national metrology institutes.
Advanced technology and innovation
The microK2 utilises an innovative sigma-delta ADC with a multi-bit PWM DAC, developed under the NPL ‘Technology Applied’ programme. Combined with parallel analogue amplifiers, solid-state switching and advanced guarding, this results in extremely low noise, high linearity and a ratio accuracy that is practically drift-free. For the microK2 60 and ELITE models, this performance is further enhanced by Parallel Analogue Processing Technology, in which multiple amplifiers work together to minimise noise.
Applications
The MicroK 2 is perfect for:
> Temperature calibration: For primary and secondary laboratories.
> Cryogenic applications: Precision at extremely low temperatures.
> Industrial measurement setups: Compatibility with various sensor standards.
> Scientific research: Measurements with extremely low uncertainties.
The MicroK 2 High-Accuracy Thermometry Bridge sets a new standard in temperature measurement and calibration, with features that make it both future-proof and user-friendly.
