The instrument is an essential part of MI’s 2100 Series Power Calibration Systems and 6010 Series Resistance Measurement Systems, but can also be used independently in laboratories that combine high currents with high accuracy.

Flexible transconductance architecture

The 2701A converts an input voltage into a precisely controlled output current, with a fully linear and reproducible ratio. The instrument has three range settings of 5A, 20A and 100A, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. In AC mode, the amplifier delivers currents up to 100 amps over a frequency range from DC to 1 kHz, while in DC mode, a bipolar output controlled by a 16-bit DAC is available. This allows the 2701A to perform both dynamic AC measurements and extremely stable DC current generation.

Designed for modern calibration systems

The amplifier was developed as a core component for MI’s advanced measurement systems, including the 2100C Power Calibration System and the 6010-100 A Resistance Measurement System. In addition, the 2701A is widely used in national measurement institutes for high-current CCC applications and for the calibration of current transformers. Thanks to the IEEE-488 interface, the instrument can be fully integrated into automated high-throughput calibration setups.

Operation and user interface

The 2701A is easy to operate via the front panel, where a large vacuum fluorescent display shows all relevant parameters, such as the selected mode, the set range and the current output current. The user can switch between AC operation, DC source mode and amplifier mode, either manually or via software. The rear of the instrument features two types of outputs: five-way binding posts for currents up to 20 amps and robust quick-disconnect terminals for the 20–100 amp range.

Stability and measurement performance

The 2701A is designed for long-term stability and low noise. The output remains within ±100 ppm for eight hours, the DC offset remains below 5 mA, and harmonic distortion remains below 0.1% at 100 A RMS. This performance makes the instrument suitable for the most demanding metrological applications, including primary and secondary current standards, accurate power measurements, and reference current generation.

Features

The instrument is housed in a 19-inch rackmount enclosure, allowing easy integration into existing laboratory setups. Wide mains voltage compatibility (100–240 V, 50/60 Hz) and solid construction make the 2701A suitable for intensive daily use in professional laboratories. The 2701A Transconductance Amplifier offers a unique combination of power, precision and flexibility. With its combination of AC and DC functionality, automation, stability and wide compatibility, the instrument is a reliable and future-proof solution for laboratories working at the highest level of electrical metrology.

0 to 100 Amps – AC

0 to ±100 Amps – DC

Voltage Compliance ± 5 Volts

IEEE488 Interface

Resistive, Capacitive, Inductive Loads

Fully programmable, the MI 2701A Transconductance Amplifier can be configured as part of a fully automatic power calibration system to optimize throughput
[256,258,260

post-1963","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-multifunctie-kalibratoren","product_cat-dc-calibrators","product_cat-power-energy","first","instock","shipping-taxable","product-type-simple
["GET
